Barons baseballers rally past Cumberland
Brendan King was hit by a pitch to start the rally, and Chris Gregory then drew a walk. With Garrett Allgood pinch-running for King, Landon Allgood came through with an RBI single.
After Jordan Hill drew a walk to load the bases, Larry Bullock was hit by a pitch and Scott Nutter drew a walk. Nathan Newcomb then cleared the bases with a three-RBI triple to give the Barons a 7-1 lead.
Newcomb finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Josh Hite was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Newcomb was also the winning pitcher. Through six innings of work, he allowed three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Joseph Walker recorded the save.
Now 4-4 on the season, the Barons are back in action April 23 at Prince Edward.
